Ukraine and the EU

Ukraine and the EU Ukraine has signed the famed EU Association Agreement with Georgia and Moldova. This agreement has a political side, but also an economic one. This includes a Free-trade agreement. One could doubt the wisdom of such an agreement if we look to the trade repartition for Ukraine. To not overweight the energy balance we took...

Civil War in Ukraine

Civil War in Ukraine Kindly translated by Anne-Marie de Grazia The events in Eastern Ukraine since May 25th have sadly proven right those who predicted the unleashing of a civil war. Civil war in Ukraine?

3 mai 2014
Par
English translation done by Anne-Marie de Grazia The tragic events which have unfolded in Eastern Ukraine on Friday May 2nd , clearly represent an acceleration in the process leading to civil war and, in time, to a partition of the country. As could be foreseen, the Geneva accord is foundering, and with it the...

Ukraine: after Geneva

20 avril 2014

Kindly translated by Anne-Marie de Grazia The Geneva negotiations on the future of Ukraine have resulted in an ill-fitting coat. Granted, there has been an accord, and it must be welcomed, but the countries of the European Union and the United States continue to talk about sanctions against Russia. This is incoherent. If there...

Kindly translated by Anne-Marie de Grazia With the formation of the new French government, we are already fully engaged in the campaign for the European elections. Ukraine: time is running out. Note kindly translated by Anne-Marie de Grazia The situation in Ukraine keeps degrading and it is now its economic and political dimensions  which are challenging the key players.

_____________________

This blog aims at the dissemination of some of my research works, including working papers, position papers or brief notes focusing either on the Russian economy (from macroeconomy to regional economics and finance) or on the European one, with a special attention to the Eurozone crisis.
